The lady make good cake, but the man at front has very very bad attitude with customer service. My wife called said pick up after 10am. And I came around 10:20to pick up. The man who has very bad attitude and told me back You called to pick up at 12pm, I cant make it, we have too many order today, I dont have cake. Any way, very very poor customer service.

I went here while I was having a bad day to cheer myself up and it didn't disappoint. The owner is so friendly and you can really tell how much dedication the team at Yahagi put into their craft. Try the Opera Cake - really a hidden gem in Chch.
The presentation of the desserts, as well as the care and handling of them is something to behold. I left Yahagi with my green tea sponge slice delicately wrapped and secure in a little box to take home. At first I expected the sponge to be sweet to compensate for the bitterness that comes with matcha, however I wasn't expecting the smooth combination of matcha and cream in perfect balance where you can enjoy the true taste of matcha in a cake. Although if you're looking for something sweeter the chocolate tart is amazing, I bought it for my sisters birthday and I can definitely say the big cakes are well worth their value compared to other patisseries.
